Welcome to Big Futures! This program helps young adults (ages 16–25 years old) transition successfully from completion of high school into adulthood. We hold bi-monthly sessions, called Pillar Events, so that each participant gains the skills and knowledge to successfully transition into one of the three E’s: Employment, Enlistment, and Enrollment.

With Big Futures, we’re helping young people navigate challenges specific to their stage in life. Our goal for each young adult is to gain the skills and knowledge to successfully transition into the workforce and/or continued education opportunities.

We’re so happy to have you with us!

Hi everyone! My name is Kaitlyn and I am the College & Career Program Manager here at Big Brothers Big Sisters!

A little about me: I was born and raised in Louisville, and grew up a Louisville Cardinal fan. However now I am a Kentucky Wildcat at heart, especially since recently I graduated with my Masters in Social Work from the University of Kentucky! I began my career in social work a little over ten years ago upon graduating with my Bachelors from Eastern Kentucky University—Go Colonels! After graduating, I began my professional career working at the Center for Women and Families. That’s where I discovered my passion for working with kids and young adults!

I have three older brothers, which have each contributed to my greatest title in making me aunt. Altogether, I have three nieces and two nephews of various ages, who truly are my built-in mini best friends! In my free time, I like to read, be outdoors hiking or hang out with my four-legged friends Maya (my Golden Retriever) or Ruth (my Tortoiseshell cat)! I am huge foodie and have a personal goal to travel two places each year I’ve never been! This year’s adventure: Hawaii & Seattle! An interesting & fun fact about me: I collect spoons and am currently working on a craft project of making an outline of a United States map to show off my travels and my collection! If you are a fellow crafter, I am open to taking all the tips and ideas I can get!

I am so excited to meet you & work with you during your time in our program! Welcome! 🙂

Hi there! I’m Caitlyn Barnes, one of your College & Career Coordinators! I am originally from Frankfort, Kentucky. I graduated from Centre College in May 2023. At Centre, I majored in Politics and minored in Social Justice.

My professional background is in higher education, specifically focused on community engagement and student support. I am a mother to a beautiful cat named Poppy, and in my free time I enjoy reading, attending concerts/ listening to live music, and spending time with friends. I’m so excited to be working with youth in the Big Futures program as they transition into adulthood. Throughout my life, I have enjoyed building connections with young people, and this work allows me to deepen my relationship with the community I live in while fueling my sense of purpose.

Recently, I completed my second term as an AmeriCorps member, totaling 3,500 hours of service!
